Papaya turns 3 months old
Papaya has hit the 3 month milestone today. The little guy has gone from a small 3 week old that could fit in the palm of your hand to a big, beautiful, and loving bird.

He CAN FLY!!!!
Yes he is flighted!!! After I took the footage below of Papaya flapping into the cage I took him into the kitchen for a feeding. I placed him in a chair and began to mix up some formula. He wanted fed NOW and flew over me! It freaked me out, all I could hear was the wooosh of his wings and there he was clinging to my arm. So I put him back to see if he would do it again. The clips below.
I've had my digital camera for a year and a half and I'm now just figuring out how to take videos. I started a channel on YouTube check it out

The FULL blood test results came in yesterday and he has a small infection. Bacteria and yeast. I have to cut out the cheerios and birdie bread from his diet for awhile, I picked up his antibiotics today. He's still his same old active and happy self but I hope the meds clear him up so I can be worry free!

I've pulled my husband into the wonderful world of parrots, he has become attached to Papaya a lot more recently. All on his own he came up with the idea to make Papaya a perchstand. We went to the hardware store and bought all the supplies and he put the monsterous thing up with lightning speed. We still need to put some finishing touches on it but here's a look at our "not spoiled at all" bird's perchstand/big space taker upper.

Now Papaya has enough balance to perch on a chair while I'm in the kitchen. He sits there and watches everything going on around him. One of these days he's going to lift off and take that first flight.

DNA results are in....
The vet called today with the sexing results. Papaya is a male. It's nice to know instead of wondering. When referring to him we always used "he" so now we know we aren't confusing his gender lol.

Papaya grew impatient with me this morning while I tried to do about 5 other things and make his formula at the same time. Multitasking isn't a good idea when you have a hungry baby. He climbed atop his bin for the first time. His agility and balance is improving quite rapidly. I was so proud ;)
Not only did he make it up to the lip of the bin but he glided down and landed right in front of me.
Here he is climbing up to my shoulder. Oi I need some sun!
Look ma no hands!

Vintage art

I took Papaya outside today, he didn't mind his tether but he did freak out some when we were in the yard. He's not used to being outdoors, I'm sure he just needs time.
Oh, I edited my blog to where you can now leave comments so drop me a line I love hearing from
people :)

We paid a visit to the vet yesterday because I was concerned about his face. Lately it's been looking quite sunken in. The vet said his fat has yet to fill in and that its normal. He got blood drawn and all the cultures. We'll see in 7-10 days if he's completely healthy. While we had blood available I decided to get him sexed. Papaya may just be female we'll see! He did well but was a little sketchy of the vet toweling him. I would be too it's an awful sight.

Two buddies in the toy bin!
Papaya is 69 days old today, (just about 10 ten weeks old). He's a heavy bugger this morning he weighed 1,066 grams.
I finally found a better material to line his big cage. I had been using bed sheets and towels and it was a mess to have to keep doing poopy laundry. NEWSPAPER has saved me SO much time....yes newspaper who would've thought :) That deserves a head boink.....

8 weeks old

Here's Papaya testing out his big bird food. He loves making a mess of his food bowl. So far he's tried grapes, blueberries, corn, carrots, peas, green beans, sprouts, oranges, birdie bread, pellets, nutriberries, beans, pasta, millet, broccoli, apples, and apricots
.
